An eyewear RFQ (request for quotation) works best when a supplier can understand the product, branding, quantity, timing, and delivery requirements without guessing. This checklist helps brands, importers, and wholesalers prepare a clearer brief for an OEM or ODM eyewear project.

1. Define the product category

Start with the products you want quoted: optical frames, sunglasses, blue-light glasses, readers, children’s eyewear, or a mixed collection. Include reference links or images when the shape, finish, hinge, lens, or decoration matters. State whether you need an existing model, a modified model, or a new development.

2. Describe materials and dimensions

List the material direction you want the supplier to evaluate, such as acetate, metal, stainless steel, TR90, recycled content, or another approved option. Add key dimensions where known: lens width, bridge, temple length, frame height, and intended fit. If the measurements are not final, label them as targets so the quotation can be based on the same assumptions.

3. Prepare colors and finish requirements

Explain the required color references, surface finish, transparency, plating, paint, logo color, and any special texture. Pantone references, physical samples, or approved images are more useful than general terms such as “premium black” or “light gold.” Mention whether color matching is required at sampling stage or only for bulk approval.

4. Separate branding from packaging

Describe where the brand should appear: temple logo, lens mark, case, cloth, carton, hangtag, or other packaging components. Include artwork formats if available and identify which items are essential for the first quotation. A short packaging list helps the supplier separate frame pricing from branding and packing costs.

5. State sample expectations

Tell the supplier whether you need a visual sample, a fit sample, a decorated sample, or a pre-production sample. Include the number of styles, colorways, and logo versions to review. You can also note who will approve the sample and what must be checked before bulk production, such as fit, hinge action, logo position, lens color, and packaging.

6. Add target markets and compliance questions

Identify the countries or sales channels where the eyewear will be sold. Ask which product documents and testing information are available for that market, and request the current document names or test scope rather than assuming a certificate covers every style. This keeps the quotation discussion separate from compliance confirmation.

7. Include quantity and delivery assumptions

Provide an estimated quantity by style and color if possible. If the quantity is not fixed, give a realistic range and explain what will determine the final order. Add the destination country, preferred shipping term if known, requested delivery window, and whether the order will be split into multiple shipments. These details help avoid a quote based on incomplete logistics assumptions.

8. Use a clear quote request format

Ask the supplier to separate tooling or development items, sample charges, unit pricing, branding, packaging, testing, and shipping assumptions. Request that any exclusions or price conditions are stated clearly. For a practical follow-up, compare the quotation against the eyewear sample approval checklist and the manufacturing inspection and QC guide.

9. Final RFQ checklist

For category-specific project context, review the Brillenhersteller page or the sunglasses manufacturer page. When your brief is ready, send the key requirements through the contact page so the next quotation conversation starts with the same information on both sides.
