For buyers sourcing glasses and sunglasses, a clear inspection plan reduces avoidable quality issues before shipment. This guide outlines the checkpoints to include in an eyewear manufacturing brief and inspection report.

1. Confirm the product brief before production

Record the frame style, lens type, dimensions, materials, colors, logo artwork, packaging and approved reference sample. Any change should be written down before bulk production begins.

2. Check materials, colors and dimensions

Compare incoming materials and color references with the approved specification. Verify key dimensions, hinge position, lens fit and logo placement against the drawing or golden sample.

3. Review the first article or sample

Before a full run, inspect a first article or pre-production sample. Check appearance, assembly, comfort points and branding details, then record approvals and open corrections.

4. Use in-process checks during production

During production, sample frames from the line and check assembly consistency, surface finish, alignment and functional movement. Document defects with photos, quantities and corrective actions.

5. Inspect finished goods and packaging

Before shipment, review finished pieces for scratches, color variation, loose hardware, lens seating, hinge movement and packaging accuracy. Confirm carton labels and packing quantities against the order brief.

6. What a useful inspection report should contain

• Order and style references
• Inspection date, sample size and inspection stage
• Pass, fail or conditional findings
• Photos of representative defects
• Required corrective actions and recheck date

7. Prepare a buyer-ready QC brief

Send the supplier one concise document containing artwork, dimensions, material notes, color references, packaging requirements and acceptance criteria. This makes sampling and production discussions easier to verify.
